This website is dedicated to the remarkable history of 1517-1519 Connecticut Avenue, a modest but important building located in the heart of Washington, D.C. Set in the iconic Dupont Circle neighborhood, it is a cornerstone of the city’s heritage and a site of profound historical significance.

Built in 1920, shortly after the conclusion of World War I, the building was constructed at a time when automobiles and horse-drawn carriages still shared the streets. Over the century that followed, many of the people who passed through its doors played pivotal roles in shaping the world as we know it today.
